Poker players looking at a list of online poker rooms can feel very lost. With a multitude of online poker rooms available, offering the highest bonuses and best promotions. From real money poker games, including high stakes games, no limit, pot limit, and mixed limit tables, and not forgetting freerolls and play money games to choose from. Like a Las Vegas poker room, if a table is currently full you can be put on the waiting list. Online, getting on a waiting list happens at the click of a button. Once it's available, you will automatically be asked if you want to join that game. No matter which table you decide to play at, you are guaranteed a good time. The players at the same virtual table could live in your neighborhood or across the globe, but some online poker rooms also use house bots, shills (paid players) and automated opponents to increase numbers. Looking at objective poker room reviews helps, articles penned by experienced players with vast knowledge on established poker sites. They play often at rooms such as Party Poker, Poker Stars and Titan Poker, and offer much insight into specifics like software details, bonus rules and player traffic flow.

There are online poker cheats who try to win by cheating. Many dishonest players cheat on online poker by using various methods. Cheating at online poker happens, despite strict measures to prevent it. Don't try any of the methods here, as most cheaters are quickly caught. When someone plays online poker there are detailed logs of all the action- winning poker hands, how often flops are called, how much money is won or lost, and the proportion of showdowns won. Abusing the "Disconnect Protect" feature of Party Poker lets cheaters go to the showdown without having to call any bets/raises, but is easily discovered. Collusion can happen when players use phone calls, instant messaging, since nobody can see them. Sometimes one person can be playing from different IP addresses or computers. Party Poker prevents this by not allowing the same IP address to join the same table more than once. Party Poker scanners can be used to calculate precise odds and decide your play for you. It won't win you much money, but is still unfair. Poker bot utility software can be set up to play online poker and slowly win pots. You can profit without doing anything. However, these are banned in many poker rooms.

Poker is a game of cards where players gamble on the strength and value of their cards. Play always moves in a clockwise fashion and starts with the player seated after the dealer button. Players on the left of the dealer button must always place a small and big blind respectively. Player's cards are always dealt face down, with the player left of the big blind be the first to bet. Players can either choose to call, raise or fold. Play will continue to move in a clockwise position until all players have completed their turns. With that, the community cards are dealt out. After the community cards are dealt, players can determine their strongest hand. After that another round of betting starts. In this round of betting, known as the flop, players can either check, raise or fold. If a player has raised, the following player cannot check, so he can either call, raise or fold. After the betting is done, another community card is dealt. The turn, where the forth community card is dealt, another round of betting starts. This round, players can once again bet and the same rules apply to the turn. The river, the fifth and final community card is dealt, another round of betting starts. This round, players can once again bet and the same rules apply to the river. After the final round of betting, if there are two or more people left in the pot, all players must declare their hand and show their hands. The player with the strongest card will win the round and takes the pot.
